Annie Laurie
Annie Laurie is a Traditional Scottish song based on a poem written (as far as we know) by William Douglas (c. 1682–1748). The text describes his romance with Annie Laurie, the youngest daughter of Baronet Robert Laurie who allegedly – and successfully – opposed the match. The song is also known as Maxwelton Braes. The text of this version has been updated slightly so as to be clear to the average listener.

Danny Boy
Danny Boy is a traditional ballad written by English songwriter Frederic Weatherly in the early 20th century. The tune is that of the traditional Irish melody of Londonderry Air. The story is most commonly thought to be that of a father sending his son off to war. However, there is some evidence that Weatherly intended it as a love song, instructing performers to sing “Eily Dear” when sung by a man and “Danny Boy” when sung by a woman.
